Here’s the truth: you have tons of options when it comes to choosing someone to photograph your wedding. You have different price points, different styles, different personalities, different levels of experience, and all the other stuff that makes every photographer different.
But I want to share a story with you. A few years ago, I received a message from a couple who had lost their wedding photographer and reached out to be in panic to shoot their wedding coming up that following spring. I had never shot a wedding before but I told myself I would help this couple because they believed in me. And so I committed to her wedding, took my entire winter and spring preparing for the wedding and then did the job. I gave the couple my all, and delivered a gallery full of pretty photos. One month after the wedding, I received glowing reviews from the couple. This was my first wedding. Today, we look back on these photos and witness a new moment we didn’t see through the photos. This is why I decided to shift my gear to weddings, because I love the lasting memories they create for couples.
This message truly was a turning point for me. Because of course it had never been about clicking a button and collecting a paycheck, but I was very much in the “honeymoon” phase of my career. I was excited about taking beautiful photos, and I was so thrilled every time a couple told me that they loved their images. I loved everything about what I did, but I didn’t consider the impact that a photo can have, and the responsibility that comes with photographing weddings.
Your wedding might be one of the only times when all your family and friends are together in the same place, and I take my responsibility seriously in helping you capture these tangible memories. After your wedding ends and flowers wilt, and the cakes get eaten, memories fade, but your photos are forever.
And when you invest your trust and your money in me, I invest everything I have into you, your experience, and your memories. It’s not just a click of a button – photographing your wedding is a big responsibility, and you deserve a photographer who has experience, who has professional equipment and backup gear, who knows how to pose people and how to work with harsh or difficult lighting, and who will be there with you and for you, 100% of the way.
