This Filoli Garden Wedding editorial blended together the cultural aspects of a Western and Southeast Asian union.
A luxe garden wedding venue, Filoli boasts over sixteen acres of historic architecture and enchanting blooms. All in all, the venue’s natural surroundings provide a charming feeling of tranquillity in a setting that feels akin to an Italian villa. Set in Woodside California, a wedding at Filoli Garden is a once-in-a-lifetime experience with the ability to capture every detail of your remarkable love story on their expansive grounds.
For the wedding editorial featured below, the concept was centered on a love story that shares an emergence of culture. Showcasing what a similar couple might experience when planning a culturally blended wedding at Filoli. As can be seen, the bride and groom brought forth traditional aspects of a Southeast Asian wedding. The bride wore an impeccably stitched lehenga accented by an ornate nath. Both she and the groom were adorned in floral varmala’s which are eponymous with a Hindu wedding ceremony. A second Southeast Asian look was created for the bride that featured intricately designed white henna and a modern lehenga encrusted in pearls.
When focusing on capturing the essence of the couple as they displayed their Southeast Asian wedding attire, the sunlight at Filoli danced between them. It was also a beautifully symbolic moment that beckoned the concept of the editorial with a blend of warmth.
Western wedding day attire for the bride and groom was sleek, but with heavy modern overtones. For the groom, an impeccably tailored tuxedo with silk labels and a bowtie created a wedding day-ready look. Additionally, the bride’s white gown called forth romance with a lightly flowing trumpeted tulle skirt, long flowing sleeves, and detailed topstitching. The wedding day portraits for the Western looks were captured both between the columns of Filoli House’s commanding stone columns and likewise by a quaint pond located in the gardens.
Of course, no Filoli Garden Wedding is complete without an elevated dinner reception. Correspondingly, a contemporary four-tier wedding cake awaited our bride and groom. Detailed vintage ornamentation was created on each tier of the cake, and delicate pink orchids were added to call forth the ambiance on display at Filoli Historic House & Garden.
A stylized dinner reception was the final element that tied together our concept of a love story that shares an emergence of culture. Lush florals in creamy tones of pastel were laid across the length of the table in a low profile arrangement with varying degrees of height and texture. Additionally, a lush floral arrangement made primarily of greenery sat beside the table for a cohesive floral experience. Table settings awaited each guest with glittering wine glasses that reflected the light pouring in through the double French doors. Undoubtedly lavish menus with tassel closures were placed at each setting to further draw on the senses for a magnificent guest experience.
